This autumn, Sjótækni's employees worked on laying pipelines in the harbor at Bíldudalur in connection with Arnarlax's operations. The work was complex and multifaceted, including the need to weld the pipes together, put weights on them to sink the pipes and then put everything in place. When the pipes were finished at the pier, the pipes then had to be brought through the steel wall that is being driven down and fastened. During the work, various tools and equipment, excavators and cranes were used as well as divers and welders and the boat Kafari BA, which is useful in such projects.

Sjótækni has in collaboration with Tálknafjarðarskóli received students for a job presentation this autumn. The last two Wednesdays Ísabella and Anika came to visit us.

We introduced them to the company's activities and showed them tools and equipment for various uses. Among other things, Guðbjartur showed them the pressure chamber and explained its use. The next day Guðbjartur taught them to knit knots and showed them how to weave lines together. We at Sjótækni thank Ísabella and Anika for coming and hope they enjoyed the visit with us.

The job presentations of students at Tálknafjarðarskóli at Sjótækni are over this autumn and we would like to thank Tálknafjarðarskóli for the initiative and hope that everyone benefited and enjoyed the visits to Sjótækni. We hope that these job introductions will continue and we look forward to introducing more kids to our activities in the coming years.

Sjótækni's employees worked on multi-beam measurements in Vestmannaeyjar-harbour for Vestmannaeyjabær, as well as inspecting submarine cables and pipelines between the mainland and the islands. The multi-beam measurements used a remote-controlled survey boat of the type of Otter pro 3 from the Norwegian company Maritime. The boat's multi-beam equipment forms a beam up to 165 ° wide under the boat and thus captures good images of the bottom and what can be seen there.

There are submarine cables for fibre optics and electricity between the land and the Vestmannaeyjar as well as water pipes, and the condition of these pipes must be monitored regularly. When inspecting them, a remote-controlled submarine owned by Sjótækni of the Specter type was used. It is equipped with a high-quality camera as well as positioning equipment and a sonar.
