Sjótækni's employees have been working on rescuing boats in Flateyrarhöfn since the 16th of January. Operations have been successful when the weather allows it. The boat Blossi ÍS has been picked up and hoisted up on the pier. The boat Eiður ÍS was also towed to the pier and moored there, but it is still to be turned around as it capsized upside down in the sea during the avalanche on 15th of January.
Weather has hampered operations from time to time, but this week the boat Guðjón Arnar was managed to dock and all sea got pumped out of it. The boat Brói KE was towed to a pier from the shore and it was tied to a pier and sea pumped out of it. The boat Sjávarperla was also restrained and secured to the pier, and it was then hoisted onto the pier when the weather allowed.
Pictures of rescue operations can be seen under the tab photos on our website and under the album „Björgunaraðgerðir á Flateyri“. The photos are mostly taken by Páll Önundarson in Flateyri and we would like to thank him for allowing us to use those. Other photos are taken by Kjartan Hauksson and Guðbjartur Ásgeirsson.
