In recent weeks, the boat Kafari BA has been in a shipyard in Njarðvík for repairs and improvements. The propeller was repaired, the cap stan got inspected and repaired, and the water tank was cleaned. There were also improvements to the railing and the side of the boat, which was slightly extended, as well as improvements were made to the wheelhouse and windows of the wheelhouse. Finally, Kafari BA was completely painted.
Kafari BA was built in Seyðisfjörður in 1979 and served as a ferry between Árskógsströnd and Hrísey in the beginning, but since 2008 it has been registered as a research vessel and has been used in various projects at Sjótækni such as diving, laying submarine cables and monitoring pipelines at sea for various purposes all over the country.
Kafari BA was launched in Njarðvík this morning, March 4, after the repairs and will go straight to projects that await him. Another great news is that Sjótækni's new boat, Valur, which is built in Norway, was also coming out of a shipyard in Norway and was put on board a cargo ship this morning that will transport it to Iceland.
